Memo from Dreamforce: Trails, AI, and Making an Impact
Finding your Trail
Even though this was my eleventh Dreamforce, it still came with that giddy and overwhelming “first day of school” feeling. Walking into a conference of 170,000 people, it can be hard to find your bearings at first. But eventually you locate “your people”. Like last year, Trailhead, and the “trails” of admin, developer, lightning, sales cloud, service cloud, and marketing cloud helped everyone find their niche. Pick your trail, find your clique.
Part of our role here at ECHO is to guide our clients down a Salesforce Trail of their own. Starting off with any new technology is going to be intimidating. ECHO’s mission of empowering our clients through technology helps them get to a self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
Salesforce Unveils Einstein
The major announcement at this year’s Dreamforce was Einstein AI, a new function within the sales cloud. The Einstein demo made for an easy point: salespeople repeat a lot of things. From scheduling follow-up appointments to due diligence on LinkedIn, there are a lot of busy-work tasks which take up our time. The magic of Einstein AI is automating many of those processes – composing emails, scheduling reminders, de-conflicting calendars. All we do is press “Send”. Dear manager, I want one.
Making an Impact
The great thing about Dreamforce is that you can see how Salesforce evolves over time, developing things we never even knew we needed. For a company which started with a basic CRM platform, Salesforce has expanded into a remarkably rich universe of useful functions and features.
Thankfully, one guiding part of the organization does not change: the commitment to the Salesforce Foundation. The Salesforce Foundation shows, year after year, their deep desire to promote societal change through the power of I.T. Salesforce pledges 1% of everything they have (product, time, resources), and truly believes that we can change the world if every company did this. ECHO is proud to be a part of this commitment. The results speak for themselves, with many examples demonstrated at this year’s Dreamforce. Through its work with the Salesforce Foundation, ECHO truly shows that we can make a great impact, both locally and globally.
